• Establish Rarity

Excellent-condition 8-tracks are genuinely scarce. An AMG grade documents and certifies that rarity with an objective, third-party assessment — the kind of certification that turns a rare find into a verified collectible.

  • Command the Premium

Ungraded 8-tracks in claimed excellent condition are treated with skepticism by buyers. An AMG grade removes that friction entirely. Graded pieces consistently achieve a 6X+ premium over raw sales.

  • Halt Degradation

8-track shells crack. Tape foam pads deteriorate. Labels peel. AMG's sonically sealed, tamper-evident case creates a stable environment that halts the deterioration that affects virtually every unprotected cartridge.

  • Display a Piece of History

A graded 8-track is a conversation piece. AMG cases display the full cartridge label through crystal-clear acrylic — wall-mounted or shelf-standing, it's a piece of audio history, properly preserved.

Industry-Leading Slabs

AMG's patent-pending case is purpose-built for audio media and fits 8-track cartridges without adaptation. Sonically sealed and tamper-evident, it provides permanent authentication — once sealed, any tampering is immediately visible. The case is engineered to hold the cartridge securely without pressure on the shell, protecting the internal tape mechanism as well as the exterior.

Purpose-Built for the Cartridge

8-track cartridges are a unique form factor, and AMG's case is designed specifically to accommodate them — label facing forward, cartridge secured without modification. Display options include wall mounting, shelf standing, and flat display. The full label is visible through all sides of the crystal-clear acrylic case.

Any Cartridge. Any Era.

AMG grades all 8-track cartridges regardless of era, label, or condition tier. Standard cartridges, promotional copies, and signed cartridges are all accepted. If it's an 8-track, we can grade it.

8-Track Grading — Common Questions

Serious audio collectors, vintage enthusiasts, and music historians. 8-tracks represent a specific era of recorded music history — the late 1960s through early 1980s — and original cartridges in excellent condition from major artists are genuinely hard to find. AMG grades are increasingly used by auction houses and dealers to certify condition for high-value sales.

AMG grades the shell condition (cracks, warping, paint chips), the cartridge label (wear, fading, peeling, writing), the internal foam pad (visible deterioration through the tape window), the tape itself (any visible damage), and overall presentation. Each element contributes to the final 1–10 grade.

Yes. Sealed cartridges are graded in sealed condition — we do not open them. The factory seal is assessed as part of the grade.

Yes — foam pad deterioration is the most common condition issue on vintage 8-tracks. AMG's graders assess pad condition through the tape window and note any deterioration in the grade report. The AMG case then creates a stable environment that slows further degradation.

Wrap each cartridge in bubble wrap and place in a small rigid box or padded mailer. Do not allow cartridges to knock against each other. Include your printed AMG packing slip. We recommend USPS Priority Mail with tracking for domestic submissions.
